Peruvian Long Tailed Boas - Boa Longicauda

First described in 1991 by Dr. Robert price & Paul Russo. These snakes are particularly rare in U.K collections. A dwarf species with females reaching sexual maturity at 5ft (1.5m) and roughly 4 years of age.

These snakes are born the proverbial ugly ducklings, developing with time to become black & white or black & yellow snakes.

We have the black & yellow variety. Blacks and whites are far more expensive and seem to be a naturally occuring anerthrystic colour varient.

Bolivian Short Tailed Boa - Boa Amarali

A very sturdily built boa through not particularly long in length. Females average around 5ft (1.5m) in length and a foot or so shorter for males (1.2m). Females are slow to mature at a period of 5 years. Maes are sexually mature from 3 years.

These boas during cycling can be exposed to relatively cool temperatures for a boa 66 Fahrenheit in certain cases.

Babies of this species are huge by comparison to other boas, capable of small adult mice from birth.

(Cayos de Los Cochinos) Hog Island Boas - Boa Constrictor imperator

Hog Island Boas pose quite a quandry for naturalists. They are so very different from the mainland imperator animals, yet the La Bahia boas are more similar to the mainland varieties yet they are further from the coast that the Cayos Los Cochinos and infact the Islas de La Bahia form a cresent around them.

Hog Island Boas Mature to around 6ft for females and 4-5ft for males. They are very popular in the trade but care must be taken to make sure it is of pure lineage.

(Isla De Maize) - Corn Island Boas - Boa Constrictor imperator

Corn Island Boas are incredibly rare in U.K collections, that said a friend of mine who managed to produce two litters in 2007 Mr Ian Bennett has helped improved numbers in the country

Isla de Maize or Corn Island Boas average 3.5 to 5 ft in length and could be considered a true dwarf. Females become sexually mature at around 3 years of age.

(Isla De Bahia) - Bahia Dwarf Boas - Boa Constrictor imperator

Isla de La Bahia boas are incredibly rare in captive collections the world over. They occur on a group of islands that surround the Cayos de Los Cochinos (Hog Islands). As of writing this information i have not found any information regarding their propagation in captivity.

I would assume that  females will mature at around 5ft (1.5m) and males at around 4ft (1.2m). I will ammend this as more information becomes apparent.

Costa Rican Boa - Boa Constrictor imperator

Costa Rican Boas are up there as a personal favourite of mine, there is so much going on with the patternation and colours to keep the most stoic imagination active. Costas carry a silver/green/grey background with stunning orange/red/amber saddles and tails markings. Costa Ricans carry a fair amount of white in the shape of round flecks within the dorsal saddles.

This is not a large boa, females mature at around 5ft in length. Breeding age is suppose would be around 3 years of age as i have not read otherwise.

Caulker Cay Boa - Boa Constrictor imperator

Caulker Cay Boas are very very rare in U.K collections. They originate from a small island of the coast of belize which is only 1 mile wide and 5 miles long. Caulker cay boas feed mainly on migratory birds and must make full use of the birds short stay if they want to survive to the next season.

Caulker Cay Boas are a slender boa and adult females never usually surpass 4ft (1.2m). Sexual maturity is at around 3 years of age. Baby Caulker Cay Boas can be reluctant feeders buty once established to just fine.

Mainland Honduran Boa - Boa Constrictor imperator

Hondurans are a small boa reaching around 5ft (1.5m) in length. Roll on 2009 so i can breed them. They develop rich oroange colours, and esaily are one of the most visually stunning of boas. Sexual maturaity takes 3-4 years, their care is no different to any of the Central American locales.
